New Park Moves Forward Posted on May 18, 2009 12:30 pm
Planning is continuing on Hazel Dell Sports Fields, a new five baseball field park on NE 78th Street about a quarter mile west of St. Johns Road. The park will contain one full size, two intermediate, two t-ball fields and batting cages with future expansion for a restroom and concessions building. Also planned for the site is a future neighborhood park.
The $7.5 million project is being paid for by Real Estate Excise Taxes (REET) which are collected whenever homes are sold in Clark County. REET funds have been specifically allocated for ball field projects. On going basic maintenance and operation of the site will be paid for by property taxes collected by the Greater Clark Parks District.
The park will be available for public and other community sports organizations and the West Coast League has approached the county about playing at this site. The West Coast League is summer collegiate league based in the Pacific Northwest that develops college players for the big leagues. The next step in the planning process is a pre-application meeting with Clark County. After that there will be another public meeting in July. The park is expected to open in the spring of 2011.

SBA 504 Loan Program Benefits from Economic Stimulus Act Posted on Mar. 3 2009 1:01 pm
The passage of H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 in February included several enhancements for the SBA 504 loan program.
Two fees have temporarily been eliminated on SBA 504 loans. The lender participation fee and the Certified Development Company (CDC) processing fee will now be paid directly by the federal government. CDCs will be reimbursed for their servicing fees by the SBA. The temporary elimination of these fees will make obtaining an SBA 504 loan more affordable for small business borrowers in the coming months - for a typical $1,000,000 building purchase, this results in fee savings of $8,500!
The Stimulus Act provided $375 million for the elimination of fees for both the 7(a) and 504 programs through December 31, 2009 or until this allocation has been exhausted.
